> ## Agent Instructions
> Describe what the running code does. Do not invent hosted pricing, launch dates, or security guarantees. Share and viewer links are a configured base URL plus an artifact path. Show localhost and a placeholder origin such as https://library.example.com.

# configure

> Save your API key and API URL.

```text theme={null}
Usage: factrove configure [--api-key <key>] [--api-url <origin>] [--profile <name>]
Saves an API key and API URL for a profile.
Options:
  --api-key <key>     API key. A prompt keeps it out of shell history.
  --api-url <origin>  API origin (alias: --endpoint-url).
  --profile <name>    Credentials profile (default: default).
```

## Accepted flags

The help text above is exact. These flags are also accepted, including ones that help text does not list.

* `--api-url, --endpoint-url <origin>` — API origin (alias: --endpoint-url).
* `--api-key <key>` — API key. A prompt keeps it out of shell history.
* `--profile <name>` — Credentials profile (default: default). Accepted on every command. Help lists it on configure.
* `-h, --help` — Show help.

## Behavior

The command writes `~/.factrove/credentials` and `~/.factrove/config` mode 0600 and does not print the key. `--api-key` prompts when it is omitted.

Create the key in the web app at `/account/api-keys`, or follow [Create an API key from a session](https://docs.factrove.app/api-reference/overview.md#create-an-api-key-from-a-session). Key management uses the session cookie and an allowed `Origin`. It rejects `Authorization`.

Precedence for later commands is in [CLI](https://docs.factrove.app/guides/cli.md). When a command cannot reach the API, see [Troubleshooting](https://docs.factrove.app/guides/troubleshooting.md).
